Item Creating Adaptive and Interactive Stories in Mixed Reality(The Eurographics Association, 2022) Frau, Vittoria; Serra, Sergio; Spano, Lucio Davide; Cabiddu, Daniela; Schneider, Teseo; Allegra, Dario; Catalano, Chiara Eva; Cherchi, Gianmarco; Scateni, RiccardoThe following paper proposes the study, the design and the preliminary development of a solution for supporting users without programming experience in creating stories in a Mixed Reality environment. We focus on a Mixed Reality interface split into two parts: the creation and observation phases. During the creation phase, the end user can build his/her own story in the immersive mode of the Mixed Reality experience. The user can also enjoy the stories that other users have designed by seeing the characters appear in their surrounding environment.Item ProtoSketchAR: Prototyping in Augmented Reality via Sketchings(The Eurographics Association, 2021) Arriu, Simone; Cherchi, Gianmarco; Spano, Lucio Davide; Frosini, Patrizio and Giorgi, Daniela and Melzi, Simone and RodolĂ , EmanuelePrototyping is a widely used technique in the early stages of system design, and it is an essential part of a new product development process. During this phase, designers identify the main functionalities, concepts and contents of the system without creating a fully functional system. This paper aims to discuss the development of ProtoSketchAR, a tool enabling Augmented Reality (AR) prototyping by sketching. The application has different interaction modes, depending on the performed functionality. Basically, it is possible to create 2D/3D sketches to be placed in the real environment and to manipulate them. These functionalities allow the creation of virtual elements that can be used to prototype screens of AR applications. The application is web-based so that it can be run on any device with a compatible AR browser, regardless of the operating system used.Item Split and Mill: User Assisted Height-field Block Decomposition for Fabrication(The Eurographics Association, 2019) Muntoni, Alessandro; SPANO, LUCIO DAVIDE; Scateni, Riccardo; Agus, Marco and Corsini, Massimiliano and Pintus, RuggeroWe present here Split and Mill: an interactive system for the manual volume decomposition of free form shapes. Our primary purpose is to generate portions respecting the properties allowing to mill them with a 3-axis milling machine. We show that a manual decomposition is competitive with the automatic partitioning when the user is skilled enough. We, thus, think that our tool can be beneficial for the practitioners in the field, and we release it as free software.
